1.1 Location, anatomy, and function of the thyroid.
Overview of thyroid hormones: T3 (Triiodothyronine) and T4 (Thyroxine).
The importance of the thyroid in metabolism, energy, and growth.
1.2 The regulation of thyroid hormones.
The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid (HPT) axis.
Effects of thyroid hormones on body temperature, metabolism, and mood. - MODULE 2
2.1: Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid)
Symptoms: Fatigue, weight gain, depression, constipation.
Causes: Autoimmune diseases (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis), iodine deficiency, aging,
etc.
Diagnosis: TSH, T3, T4, and antibody tests.
2.2 Hyperthyroidism (Overactive Thyroid)
Symptoms: Weight loss, irritability, heat intolerance, rapid heart rate.
Causes: Graves’ disease, thyroid nodules, excessive iodine.
Diagnosis: TSH, T3, T4, radioactive iodine uptake test.
