UNIT 1 – Introduction to Nutrition

Unit 2 Carbohydrates- Introduction, classification of carbohydrates, role of fiber in weight loss.

Glycemic index and glycemic loads in relation to obesity mgmt, Natural and artificial sweeteners

Modification of carbohydrates in relation to obesity mgt.

Unit 3 – Protein- Introduction ,classification of protein, role of protein in obesity mgt,calculation of protein requirement  and Modification of protein in relation to obesity mgt.

UNIT 3 – lipids- Introduction, classification of fats, role of essential fatty acids in obesity mgt,unhealthy and healthy fats in relation to obesity mgmt, calculation of fat  requirement  and Modification of fat in relation to obesity mgt.

Unit 4 Water- What is Total body water, water distribution in body depending on gender, role of water for obesity mgmt., what is water balance, healthy detox drinks and benefits as a source of water

Unit 5 Vitamins- Fat soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K) and water soluble vitamins

Unit 6 Minerals- Macro minerals and micro minerals

Unit 7 Nutritional assessment methods in weight management- anthropometry assessment, biochemical assessment, clinical and physical assessment and dietary assessment.

Unit 8 Causes and consequences of obesity, Fat cell theory and other theories of obesity.

Unit 9 Component of Body Weight –Structure of fat cell, adipocytes, hypertrophy and hyperplastic obesity, Roles of hormones in obesity.

Unit 10 Soft skills in wellness center and overview of therapy and appliance rooms in wellness center and industrial interface, knowledge and maintenance of slimming cards.

Unit 1 Role of macronutrients in energy metabolism, TTE (Total energy expenditure) and its components.

Unit 2 Weight management-

Dietary management technique for obesity, obesity related disorder and their management.

Role of physical activity in weight management – cardiovascular endurance training, Muscular strength and endurance training

Flexibility training

Motor fitness exercises and types of stretching exercises.

Unit 3 Other approaches to weight management-

Body therapies and massages, types of body therapies and their benefit in relation to weight management.

Knowledge of weight management machines used in wellness center and their benefits.

Weight loss drugs used in weight management

 Types of Bariatric surgery and diet

Extreme approaches to weight loss
